Did you know that coaching undertaken to enhance your business is tax deductible? In the U.S., all continuing education undertaken to maintain and improve business and professional skills are tax deductible. (Treas.Reg. 1-162-5, Coughlin vs. Commissioner 203F 2d 307)

~Green Column~

Monica Ward a P90X fitness coach says, "One of the R’s that gets us on a green path is Reuse. As we move into fall, taking the time to organize our closet would breathe new life into our wardrobes. For example, letting go of the clothing items that no longer work and giving them away benefits others as well as ourselves. Then, hanging our clothing items in groups by their color gives us an inviting and functional approach to outfit planning. Ultimately, this limits our desire to splurge on unnecessary items for fall and only on the few, fun things we really want."

~Creating from Spirit
with Lauren Brownell~

JA: Lauren, you are such an amazing artist. How did you get interested in art?

LB: When I was really young I remember being in awe when my mother drew amazing pictures for my brothers and I. Also, in fourth grade I had a very inspiring art teacher. She really gave me confidence and it was at that time that I first desired to become an artist.

JA: Much of your art has spiritual themes, why is art with a spiritual theme something you are drawn to?

LB: After a life changing out of body experience in my late teens, I became aware of a very happy state of being. I also experienced some extraordinary extrasensory experiences and thus began my journey on a spiritual path.

JA: What are some of the spiritual themes that have inspired you in your artwork?

LB: I minored in figure drawing. I am drawn to painting figures with vibrant colors, colors of the chakras, with third eyes or figures with energy around them. Personally, I have done a great deal of consciousness work and am I have always been interested in spiritual philosophies. Avatar, Buddhism and contemporary teachers whom I admire are often reflected in my artwork.

JA: There has been a real call for people to have inspiring artwork in their homes and environments. Why do you think people are being intentional with these references in their environments?

LB: I feel like society as a whole is opening up to healthier lives both physically and spirituality. For example, yoga is now fairly main stream and many amazing concepts are being taught through all types of practice. Similarly, people may now be more apt to create an intentional sacred space in their homes. The art world has many great spiritual artists whose work has yet to be appreciated by the masses. I would love for artwork that expresses spiritual themes to become more appreciated, recognized and main stream.

JA: Do you have any advice for people who want to explore their own creativity?

LB: Yes! Try to do something creative every day, no matter how small a project. Being deliberately creative each day is setting a clear intention to embrace your own artistry. My father recently gave me a card with the great quote by Henry David Thoreau "Advance boldly in the direction of your dreams!" Certainly, being creative helps me to have even more energy to live boldly and to continue advancing my own creativity.

JA: How can our readers reach you Lauren?

LB: Thank you! I appreciate your interest and this opportunity to share. I can be reached at laurenbb14@aol.com and soon at www.laurenbrownell.com Thanks again and peace and love out to all of you!

JA: Thank you so much Lauren! I hope people take this opportunity to see your beautiful artwork.

~Tribute~

by Krystal Kinnunen-Harris

My grandmother, Alma McCauley, who raised me until I was 9 years old passed away.
She was my first mother and I love her dearly. If I may for a second just share a little with you...

It's trendy to be "green" (thank God!) When I look back on what my grandparents taught me... how interesting that
Conserving was a way of life for them.

My grandparents only had a 5th grade and an 8th grade education. They were farmers who moved to Louisville
during the depression. They lived in a one bedroom shot gun house and raised 11 children. I was the 11th.
They never drove a car... Public transportation and walking... a sweet garden along side a 3ft tall statue
of Mother Mary, and a handmade swing made from recycled pipes and items found in the trash took up the backyard.
My grandpa walked me to and from school everyday to Holy Name. A Church that still stands near downtown Louisville
Over 120 years old.... it's breath taking. He would push a grocery cart and collect tin cans along our walk. Our walks included exploring
the neighborhood where everyone knew my grandpa, Charlie. Many times a bag of tin cans would be waiting for him, tied to a mail box or
the back gate of a fence. I still remember the sweet and juicy black berries he would find...

I loved riding the bus with him to the downtown area where we'd walk the streets collecting cans. He would recycle and then donate the money
to Catholic Charities. Many of the toys I played with where dolls he'd find in dumpsters.

The legacy my grandparents leave behind is simplicity, sustainability, conserve, love for our neighbors and community, family,
patience, endurance, faith--unwavering faith in something larger than us, forgiveness, unconditional love, obedience, Joy,
and most importantly about eternal love.

Peace,
Krystal

~Boobs~ by Zen Gray

~The following blog is from television star Zen Gray from the television show Workout.~

OK, so this has nothing to do with health & fitness directly... but maybe this will strike a cord with some people...

Since I'm single, I decided to go on Match. com because it's the largest dating website out there.

Why not, right? Some might argue that it's all a numbers game, so I will add match. com to my arsenal of ways to meet someone special.

Last night, while on the phone with someone (Let's call him "mid-thirties and still in play mode" guy) I had just gone on a date the previous night. He asked me the following question: "So, being in your industry, do you feel pressure to get implants?" Since he had just complimented me on my appearance the previous night, I thought he was just curious and even sympathetic to the perceived "Hollywood pressure" that I might be under.

I said, "Actually, I never really felt pressure from anyone. I think so many women have them here that it's not a big deal either way. I'm pretty happy with mine. Maybe I'd get implants if I had kids, and if I breast fed, and if they got weird after that... but that's the only scenario I could see getting implants for..."

Then he proceeded to tell me that he prefers women with implants. Again and again he said that he feels somewhat guilty to admit it, but that's what he likes.

Um... WTF? I may have a lot of flaws, but I don't consider my boobs one (or two) of them.

But thanks for creating a scenario in which you're trying to make me feel inferior about my body.

I guess I'm just sharing this scenario with all the people out there that, like me, are trying to put their best foot forward and be vulnerable enough to be subjected to the dating critique. I think it's hard enough for us to believe in ourselves sometimes... we don't need someone coming along and pointing out what they think we need to improve.

Do you know what areas you'd like to improve? Of course, you do.

But more importantly, do you know why you're totally f*cking fabulous?!!!

Good.

Me, too :)
